Our History

F.W.F., or the Fisher Widmann Fronheiser Insurance Agency was started by the merger of the Fisher Agency and the Widmann Fronheiser Insurance Agency in 1983. By combining both agencies, an agency doing approximately $1 million of insurance business in the Johnstown area was formed. The Widmann Fronheiser Agency was owned by James Widmann who took over the business from his father. This agency had been in the Johnstown area since 1910. The Fisher Agency was started in 1975 by Fred Fisher, and was known as the Fisher Agency until the merger of the two companies.

In January of 1987, Fred Fisher purchased James Widmann’s half of F.W.F. and was the sole owner of the F.W.F Insurance agency. F.W.F. then purchased the Richard G. Wagner Agency in New Florence in the fall of 1987 and moved all of its files to F.W.F.’s Johnstown location. With this new acquisition, F.W.F was doing approximately $2,500,000 of insurance business. This included twenty-five municipalities and many other businesses as well as numerous personal insurance policies.

In June f 1989, The Flick Agency of Johnstown owned by Robert Flick, Sr. merged with F.W.F. Agency. Their merger brought to the agency approximately $1,000,000 in additional business. This bring the total amount of business to approximately $4,000,000. In 1993, Robert Flick, Jr and Ron Flick bought their father’s interest of the agency and are now co-owners with Fred Fisher.

Presently, F.W.F. insures over 200 municipalities and fire companies and over 2000 other customers throughout the area.
